Who You Are
You are an experienced professional with extensive knowledge of housing legislation, particularly the Housing Act 1996, Part VII, the Homelessness Act 2002, the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, and the Domestic Abuse Act 2021. You have significant experience in carrying out s.202 reviews and in dealing with legal challenges including pre-action protocols and judicial reviews. Your interpersonal skills, including active listening and negotiating, are exemplary, and you are highly motivated to achieve excellent performance. You bring a creative problem-solving mindset and have the capability to work independently, prioritize workloads, and meet targets and deadlines. You have a strong understanding of how technology can enhance service delivery and support your team to fully utilize IT systems.
What the Job Involves
As a Housing Reviews Officer, you will handle inquiries and reviews of housing applications under Part 6 and 7 of the Housing Act 1996, ensuring decisions are legally sound and within statutory guidelines. You will build partnerships across various sectors to deliver services efficiently, promote community cohesion, and pursue service improvements through digital means. Responsibilities include handling legal challenges, working closely with the legal team, providing training and coaching to staff, maintaining updated knowledge of relevant case law, attending court if necessary, and embedding fairness and diversity in service delivery.
